4 People Killed in blasting at the firecracker factory in West Bengal’s Nadia District

A sudden blaze of eruption in the firecracker manufacturing unit in Nadia stocked the entire West Bengal. At least four people were killed including three women in the explosion at the firecracker manufacturing unit in Nadia. Firefighters brought the fire under control after one and a half hours. The factory is located in the congested residential area of Rathtala in Kalyani.

 A senior police officer is saying

“Four persons were rescued from the blast site, and later declared dead when taken to the nearby JNM Hospital. The condition of the injured woman is critical,”.

 He also added 

“We are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the injured person, and whether they were workers in the factory,”

and said the reason for the blast is still unknown.

An entire firefighter team took one and a half hours to take control of the fire.

Further investigation is underway. 

According to the statement of the eyewitness, the explosion took place around 1 p.m. in the Rathtala area of Kalyani. The residents claimed that two who died on the spot in the blast were employees of the factory.

The officer said,

“It was a very crowded area and we got information that the factory did not have proper permissions. We are investigating how it managed to operate.”

The Kalyani municipality has also set up a committee to look into how the factory was running in such a congested area, added the report.
