According to police sources, an 86-year-old merchant in Hyderabad’s Panjagutta neighborhood was fatally stabbed by his grandson on Thursday, February 6. According to the post-mortem examination (PME) report, the victim was stabbed seventy times.
Following a furious dispute over property, Hyderabad police officials stated that 28-year-old Keerthi Teja stabbed VC Janardhan Rao around midnight on Thursday, according to PTI.
When his mother stepped in to help, the 28-year-old continued to stab her, injuring her.
According to the police statement, Keertha Teja has been arrested after the incident. Now his mother is presently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Hyderabad police officials stated to PTI
“The accused also stabbed his mother when she tried to intervene and stop him, resulting in her sustaining injuries; she is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. We have arrested the accused, Keerthi Teja, and he has been remanded,”.
Teja had recently returned back to Hyderabad from the US after completing his Master’s degree.
Primary investigations show Teja and his mother live in another part of Hyderabad. When mother and son visit the Rao’s house to get coffee an argument suddenly breaks out over the distribution of the property. All of a sudden Teja took out a knife and ‘attacked’ his grandfather. He also accused him of being indifferent towards him since his childhood and “refusing” to distribute the property to him.
The Police Said
“This incident occurred on Thursday midnight. The deceased, 86-year-old businessman VC Janardhan Rao, was stabbed multiple times with a knife by his grandson, Keerthi Teja, aged 28, following an argument over property,”.
Teja had been arrested based on the registered case against Keerthi Teja. Still further investigations are on the process.
