This is a symbol of the well-coordinated operations between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lankan  Navy. On Friday two country’s Navies successfully seized approximately 500 kgs of narcotics. This operation identified it as the crystal meth from the two fishing boats in the Arabian Sea. This operation combination followed the intelligence received from the Sri Lankan Navy and indicated all possible narcotics that are smuggled by the Sri Lankan-flagged fishing vessels.

Following information from the Sri Lanka Navy suggesting potential drug smuggling by fishing vessels using the Sri Lankan flag, this joint operation was launched.

The Indian Navy launched an effort to intercept the involved boats as soon as they received the intelligence. Two fishing boats suspected of being involved in the illicit activity were identified as a result of the operation, which was supported by ongoing inputs from the Sri Lanka Navy and the Information Fusion Centre-Indian Ocean Region as well as intensive observation by the Indian Navy’s aerial assets.

On November 24 and 25, both ships sailed. Together with the crew members, the confiscated drugs were turned over to Sri Lankan authorities for additional legal action.
