Farmers started to protest across the state and this affected the traffic on the key routes in the Panjab. On Monday they start to block the key traffic areas. The statewide shutdown remains affected from 7 am to 4 pm on December 30 and 31.
The emergency services will remain unaffected by the Panjab Bandh as the protesters have been instructed not to hinder the medical services or obstruct the people traveling to the airport for the flight or jobs like job interviews or other important works.
PTI quoted Singh and said
“The bandh will be observed from 7 am to 4 pm. However, emergency services will remain operational. Anyone traveling to the airport to catch a flight or anyone going to attend a job interview, or anyone needs to attend a wedding… all these things have been kept out of our bandh call,”.
For the Punjab Bandh traffic is likely to be disrupted in Amritsar, Chandigarh, and other major cities. They start to show demonstrations staging a sit-in protest at the Dhareri Jattan Toll Plaza.
The call for the shutdown was issued last week by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha in response to the center’s failure to address the demands of the protesting farmers. At Amritsar’s Golden Gate farmers started to gather near the city entry points and they blocked Bathinda’s Rampura Phul.
