The US Navy banned China’s Deep Seek AI technology due to security and ethical issues. The internal emailing systems emphasize the facts for which the members should avoid using the model. Within a very short period, this model became widely famous and took the first position.
The United States Navy has also banned the use of the Deepseek due to ‘security and ethical concerns”.
In a warning email on Friday, the US Navy said this AI is not to be used “in any capacity: Hence for the potential security and other ethical concerning facts. They said “potential security and ethical concerns associated with the model’s origin and usage”.
US Navy spokesperson also confirmed the authenticity of the email. The address was about the US Department of the Navy’s Chief Information Officer’s generative AI policy.
Through an early warning email, the US Navy said, “We would like to bring to your attention a critical update regarding a new AI model called DeepSeek.”
According to the email statement, it is an “imperative” option that the team members do not use DeepSeek’s AI “for any work-related tasks or personal use.”
The email was sent on Friday early morning and the distribution list OpNav. It included that it was an all-hands memo.
This is more like a warning based on an advisory from Naval Air Warcraft Center Division Cyber Workforce Manager, requesting the recipients to “refrain from downloading, installing, or using the DeepSeek model in any capacity”.
