DeepSeek’s service terms explicitly state that it stores the user data on Chinese servers and it also governs the data under the Chinese law. That also mandates cooperation with the country’s intelligence agencies.

On January 24, CNBC reported that the U.S. Navy banned employees from using DeepSeek due to security and ethical issues.
