On Wednesday morning, thousands of people gathered for a sacred dip in the Ganga on Mauni Amavasya, causing chaos at the Sangam in Prayagraj. Fifteen individuals are thought to have died and numerous others were hurt in the stampede caused by the big throng.
The president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, Mahant Ravindra Puri, declared that the seers had canceled their Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan in response to the events during the Maha Kumbh.
Akharas from the three sects—Sanyasi, Bairagi, and Udaseen—take the holy bath in a particular order as part of the Kumbh Mela custom, which also includes a magnificent parade to the Sangam Ghat.
The focal point of the Maha Kumbh, which attracts millions of devotees, is the Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya. Due to the unique occurrence of “Triveni Yog,” which occurs once every 144 years, the ceremony is even more significant this year.
What Happened In Maha Kumbh?
- A crowd rush just one kilometer from the Triveni Sangam caused chaos as crores of devotees arrived in Prayagraj for the “Amrit Snan.”
