Two married women from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district got married at a temple in Deoria on Thursday in an unusual love tale. The women, who claim to have experienced harassment in their separate marriages, choose to begin a new life together after finding comfort in one another.

It has been reported that the two women linked on Instagram six years ago. As they supported one another through tough times and discussed their hardships, their friendship grew stronger over time. Their relationship eventually blossomed into love.

One of the women disclosed that she was regularly beaten by her drunken spouse. She left him and returned to her mother’s house since she could no longer stand the abuse. The other woman related a similar experience, claiming that her husband likewise drank too much and frequently falsely accused her of cheating. She also made the decision to end her marriage.

The two traveled from Gorakhpur to Rudrapur, Deoria, on January 23 to visit the Dudheshwarnath Temple. There, they exchanged garlands and applied sindoor (vermillion), a customary Hindu marriage symbol, on each other’s hair partings as part of a symbolic marriage ritual.

The pair declared their resolve to stick together in spite of social pressures. They declared, “We will live together now, and no one can separate us,” Media sites posted a photo of the two women with garlands around their necks and indoor smeared on their heads.

The two ladies intend to start again by renting a location where they may start a life together, even if they do not yet have a permanent residence. Their tale of love and tenacity has brought domestic abuse and the bravery required to go against social standards for one’s own happiness to the attention of the public.
