According to the Wall Street Journal, which cited anonymous sources, Elon Musk’s X has agreed to pay President Donald Trump $10 million to resolve a dispute from when the business was still known as Twitter and was controlled by Jack Dorsey.
The complaint criticized Twitter for banning Trump following the January 6th storm of the U.S. Capitol by Trump’s fans.
Due to the president’s relationship with Musk, which has only gotten closer over the last two years, Trump’s team reportedly contemplated letting their case against X go to rest.
Musk spent around $250 million on Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign after reactivating his Twitter account in 2022. Musk and Trump jointly gave a news briefing from the Oval Office this week.
Trump went ahead with the payment despite his relationship with Musk. A related action was settled in January with Meta agreeing to pay $25 million.
