The reports showed the GSA runs a network of hundreds of EV chargers with 8,000 plugs that may be used to charge federal employees’ and government-owned vehicles. According to a source who spoke to The Verge, some regional offices have already been instructed to take their chargers offline, and federal employees will receive instructions to shut them off next week.
The Denver Federal Center’s charging stations will be closed because they are “not mission critical,” according to an internal email Colorado Public Radio was able to get earlier this week.
In general, the administration of President Donald Trump has been rapidly reducing government agencies and rescinding federal funding for renewable energy, including for an EV charging infrastructure project that had previously given Tesla millions of dollars.
