Three schools including Vadodara’s Navrachana Higher Secondary School, receives a bomb threat on Friday over email. Soon after receiving the information local police along with the bomb squad rushed to the spot and started searching. Three schools were evacuated after receiving the bomb threat.
The two matriculation higher secondary schools run by Bharathi Vidya Bhavan in Thindal and Therkkupallam receive an email at 11.54 am. According to the police statement, the email stated bomb had been planted in the school premises and can explode and time.
After receiving the bomb threat the school authorities immediately alerted the police. A team of bomb detection and disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and police personnel rushed to the school premises to search for the explosives.
Police also said that all students, teachers, and other school employees were sent home after schools declared a holiday.
The police declared the threat to be a fake after concluding their search at 3:30 pm and confirming that no explosives were discovered.
Notably, a similar occurrence happened at Jaycees Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Moolapalayam, Erode, on November 11, 2024.
An email concerning a bomb that was sent to the school was also a hoax. After looking into it, the police found that the email was sent by three class IX pupils from the same school in order to get a holiday. As a result of their misbehavior, the pupils were later dismissed.
This comes after bomb threats were made against schools in Mumbai and Delhi. Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a banned pro-Khalistan group, allegedly sent bomb threats to many Delhi schools, requesting that they postpone their Republic Day festivities. Later, it was discovered that the texts were fake.
